Case Management 101 - Introduction/Refresher Workshop

Description

This dynamic and interactive workshop is designed for newly hired Case Managers and/or individuals who are thinking about case management as a career path, and want to learn about Case Management within the context of the Social Services.

This practical workshop will provide various learning/teaching opportunities focusing on client assessment, service planning, advocacy, linking, monitoring, client-centred/strength-based approach, case noting, documentation, group discussion, video clinical demonstrations, and troubleshooting of challenging clinical/client issues,   


Objectives:

  • Participants will develop an understanding of what “Case Management” is in the context of social services.
  • The Primary Functions of Case Management will be reviewed, within a motivational structure.
  • Participants will enhance and/or gain new knowledge and skills directly related to the delivery of Case Management services.
  • Participants will have opportunities to practice some of the key case management functions in small and large group discussions and exercises.


Outcomes:

  • Participants are able to apply the learnings/teachings in their work with clients.
  • Participants have a better understanding of the functions of Case Management and the role of the Case Manager.
  • Participants develop/increase their knowledge about the functions of Case Management and the role of the Case Manager.
  • Participants have developed/improved understanding of motivational foundation skills. 


Presenter Profile

PAULLETTE MARSHALL has a strong background and extensive experience working in community Mental Health. After 30 years of an active career in managing staff teams in mental health, training & facilitation, supportive housing, recovery and employment skills, she has honed her craft into a developing a strong professional practise with high standards in Case Management. In addition to her skills and qualifications, Paullette has earned a Master’s Certificate in Health Care Management at York University.
