FAME Supporting Seniors: Caregiver Care

Things it might be helpful to know about this program:

  • The FAME Supporting Seniors: Caregiver Care program is a group-based service that provides support to individuals who are caregiving for someone experiencing aging-related challenges. Its goal is to help caregivers manage their anger, depression, and grief, and help them to develop a plan for self-care and to avoid caregiver burnout.
  • The group provides emotional support, a safe space to speak openly and share feelings around being a caregiver.
  • To be eligible for this program an individual must have a caregiving role for someone who is aging.
  • Eligibility for service will not be denied on the basis of language or disability. Supports will be arranged for as needed.
  • Priority is given to caregivers of Reconnect clients.


Once in service you can expect the following:

  • An initial individual session will be scheduled to introduce you to the program.
  • Supporting Seniors: Caregiver Care is a 10-week group.
  • You will be provided with information and support on the aging process.
  • Through the group process, you will have the opportunity to receive coaching and support to effectively communicate with someone you care for that is experiencing aging-related health challenges.
  • Your attendance will be documented
  • You will receive a client satisfaction survey at end of program and an opportunity to provide feedback on whether your goals were met.
  • You will be made aware of the agency’s complaint process and how to access it.
  • You will be made aware of your right to privacy, how your personal health information is being kept secure, and how and under what circumstances Reconnect will collect, use or disclose your personal health information.
